At 32, Marion Laperche left finance behind to open a citrus jam lab on her in-laws’ grove near Hyères in the South of France. That small, family-run plantation on the Mediterranean now supplies Lemon Story, her shop in Montmartre, with its star ingredients: Meyer lemon, yuzu, bergamot, Buddha’s hand, all harvested and transformed by hand.
It takes her three full days to make a single jam. The fruit is picked, peeled, seeded, zested, macerated, and gently cooked in copper pots, stirred by Marion herself. She trained with MOF Paul Occhipinti, and it shows. The textures are silken, the flavors vivid: no pectin, no shortcuts. Standouts include yuzu-chestnut, kalamansi-gingerbread, and a lemon confit that could convert marmalade skeptics.
Lemon Story also stocks a few other treasures, like citrus salt, house-made limoncello, and a syrup made from lemon leaves. The boutique is small and glowing on a quiet corner of Montmartre. –Victoire Loup
